Federal Way’s boys and Todd Beamer’s girls basketball teams are both moving on to the regional round of the state playoffs as district champions.
The Eagles defeated Curtis for the second time in three weeks by a score of 65-62. Much like their South Puget Sound League championship game, the game came down to the final possession. This time Curtis’ Aushanti Potts-Woods missed a game-tying 3-pointer as time expired.
Jalen McDaniels paved the way for Federal Way with a game-high 28 points. Christian Jones had 11.
Potts-Woods had 27 points for the Vikings. Glenn Jordan was second with 15.
The Titans met Kentlake for the second time this season in their district championship game.
This time Beamer handled the Falcons much more easily, and they cruised to a 75-43 win.
Nia Alexander led the Titans with 21 points. Makenna Woodfolk added 13 and Japhera McEachin finished with 12.
Sydney Peterson led the Falcons with 11 points.
Both the Federal Way Boys and Todd Beamer girls will play their regional game at Puyallup High School on Saturday, Feb. 27.
Federal Way (25-0) will face Woodinville (19-4), the third seed from District 2.
Beamer (23-2) will face Eastlake (17-7), also the third seed from District 2.
