Things started out good for the Decatur Gator wrestling team at Wednesday night’s dual meet with the Emerald Ridge Jaguars. And they just kept getting better throughout the night.
Decatur junior Eric Godfrey opened the meet with a 56-second pin at 145 pounds and Dylan Aparis follwed with a 36-second pin at 152 pounds to give the Gators a quick 12-0 lead in the team standings. Decatur cruised from there to a 57-18 win over Emerald Ridge to move to 2-1 in the South Puget Sound League South Division.
In total, the Gators racked up a total of seven pins and also got three forfeits against Emerald Ridge.
Decatur’s other pins came from Tyler Thomas at 125, Joe Franco at 130, Jerry Doran at 135, Greg Bull at 140 and Tevyn Tillman at 285. The Gators also got a 7-2 decision win from Matt Turner at 215.
The Jefferson wrestling team dominated the Auburn Riverside Ravens Wednesday night, 54-13. The Raiders won all but three matches during the SPSL North meet.
Swimming
The Todd Beamer Titans are the class of Federal Way. The Titans won the All-City Boys Swimming title Tuesday afternoon at the King County Aquatic Center. Beamer totaled 145 points, to beat out Decatur (105), Jefferson (95) and Federal Way (75).
The Titans won all three relays and Shane Clare picked up a pair of individual titles during the All-City Meet. Clare won the 100-yard butterfly in 55.95 and the 100 backstroke in 59.87. Beamer also got wins from Mitch Parker in the 200 free (2:13.95), Tommy Fraychineaud in diving (197.8) and Aaron Bower in the 500 free (6:29.82).
The Raiders got a pair of wins from Jordan Gaspay in the 200 individual medley (2:11.58) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.45). Decatur got individual wins from Tanner Brotherton in the 50 free (23.23) and Noah Johnson in the 100 free (55.14).
