Decatur High School grad Mason Hymer was named GPAC Pitcher of the Week for the Morningside University Mustangs for the week of March 25-31.
Hymer played his first years of college baseball at Columbia Basin College in Pasco. Hymer played the 2021 and 2022 season with the Hawks. In his 2024 campaign, Hymer has pitched 21.2 innings. He holds a 2.08 ERA across eight appearances, and has a 1-1 record with two saves for the Mustangs.
On March 28, Hymer entered in the final inning of the first game of a double header and recorded his first save of the season against Northwestern (IA). Two days later, Hymer pitched 5.1 shutout innings out of the bullpen against Hastings College (NE) and recorded his first win of the season.
