BOYS BASKETBALL; Raiders end season with a win; Federal Way finishes fourth in South

The season ended on a high note for the Thomas Jefferson Raiders Tuesday with an 88-73 win over Mount Rainier.

The Raiders used an impressive second half to knock the Rams out of the playoff hunt. Jefferson scored 56 points in the second and third quarter to separate from Mount Rainier. Deonte Davis led four Raiders in double figures with 24 points. Danny Park finished with 19, Alex Merced tallied 17 and Chase Braxmeyer ended up with 10 points.

The win moved the Raiders to 6-14 overall and 3-13 in the SPSL North.

In other action:

Federal Way 76, at Spanaway Lake 44 —The Eagles’ trio of senior guards led the way Tuesday against the Sentinels. Deshea Bell, Napa Mefi and Jerry Duckworth combined to score 54 points during the win. Bell finished with 19, Mefi tallied 18 and Duckworth ended up with 17 points.

The Eagles (12-8 overall, 11-5 SPSL South) led only 29-23 at halftime, but outscored Spanaway Lake, 47-21, during the second half.

Federal Way, who finished fourth in the South, will take on either Kent-Meridian or Kentlake at 2 p.m. at Auburn High School Saturday afternoon at the SPSL Tournament. Kent-Meridian and Kentlake tied for fourth place in the SPSL North Division and play a tiebreaker game Thursday.

Puyallup 66, at Beamer 61 — The Titans dropped their season finale Tuesday to the Vikings despite getting 29 points from junior Thomas Rhodes.

Puyallup jumped out to a 16-7 lead after the first quarter, but the Titans fought back to tighten the score to 26-23 at halftime.

The loss ends the Titans’ season with a 6-13 overall record and 5-11 in the SPSL South.
