Boys basketball: Jefferson completes season sweep of Auburn; Decatur, FW and Beamer also win

The Thomas Jefferson Raiders completed a season sweep of the Auburn Trojans Thursday night with a 78-52 win on their home floor and got a little revenge Saturday with a win over Kent-Meridian, 61-49.

The two victories moved the Raiders (7-6, 4-5) one win back of the final postseason berth from the South Puget Sound League North Division. The top-five finishers in the league advance to the West Central District Tournament, where the Raiders haven’t played since 1985.

Federal Way leads the division at 9-0, followed by Kentridge (7-3), Kentwood (6-4) and a two-way tie for fourth between Auburn (5-5) and Auburn Riverside (5-5).

Jefferson also got double-digit scoring from Justin Lanier (18), Jeff Brigham (17) and Eric Radford (11).

The Raiders led 19-13 after the first quarter and 40-21 at halftime.

Saturday’s win over Kent-Meridian avenges an early-season loss to the Royals (3-11, 1-9). Jefferson got 19 points from Brigham.
