Basketball is a team game and the Todd Beamer Titans exemplify what a team is.

The Titans (21-4) will make the program’s second appearance at the Class 4A State Boys Basketball Tournament after dismantling the Bothell Cougars Saturday night at Puyallup High School, 77-41. Beamer will be among the final eight teams competing inside the Tacoma Dome, starting Thursday after winning the Regional Tournament game over Bothell.

The Titans’ team effort led to four different players scoring in double figures and eight different players hitting a 3-pointer during the win over Bothell. Despite scoring 77 points during the game, Beamer was led by the 12 points of senior Trey Burch-Manning.

South Puget Sound League South Division Player of the Year, Bogdon Bliznyuk finished with 11 points, as did Rayvonne Freeman. Giovanni Jackson was the fourth Beamer player in double figures with 10 points.

The Titans were deadly from beyond the 3-point line Saturday night. Beamer was 10 for 18 from 3-point line (56 percent). They also finished 19 for 24 from the free-throw line. Quadir Williams also had an impressive all-around game at point guard, finishing with six points and eight assists.

Beamer jumped all over the Cougars Saturday and never looked back. The Titans led 22-9 after the first quarter 40-23 at halftime.

But it was the third quarter that really put the game away for Beamer. The Titans outscored the Cougars, 21-4, during the eight minutes to take a commanding, 61-27, lead into the fourth quarter. Bothell was led by the 19 points and 12 rebounds of Josh Martin, who has already signed to play next season at the University of Minnesota. Martin is a 6-foot-9 forward.

Beamer will find out who they will play in the opening-round of the Class 4A State Boys Basketball Tournament Sunday evening.
