The Federal Way Soccer Association was a solid host for the first weekend of the annual Blast Off Soccer Tournament last weekend at fields around the city.
It was the girls’ turn Friday through Sunday and the boys potion of the tournament will kick off Friday. The three-day girls tournament included 102 team from all over the Pacific Northwest in the under-11 through U-18 categories. Championship games were played on Sunday at Celebration Park and Saghalie Middle School.
There are currently 89 boys teams signed up for this weekend’s Blast Off event. Sunday’s title games will also be played at Celebration and Saghalie.
The Federal Way Soccer Association was also very gracious in allowing visiting teams to take home bracket championships during the girls’ portion of the Blast Off last weekend. The Federal Way United Reign program failed to win a bracket title.
Four Federal Way United Reign teams lost in championship games on Sunday. The Reign ‘97 Purple team was beaten by Washington Premier Black, 3-2, in the U-11 Bracket A final, Reign ‘97 White lost to Crossfire Premier in the U-11 Bracket B final, 3-1, Reign ‘97 Black lost to Synergy FC in the U-11 Bracket D final, 5-0, and the Reign ‘97 Silver lost to FC Crush ‘98 in the Bracket F final, 5-2.
The boys portion of the Blast Off Tournament will kick off at 2 p.m. Friday. Championship-round play will get underway at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
