The Todd Beamer girls swim team is the best the Federal Way School District has to offer this season. The Titans earned bragging rights Tuesday by winning the All-City Swim Meet inside the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
Beamer tallied 145 points, followed by second-place Jefferson with 129, Federal Way 79 and Decatur with 78.
The four-team, non-league meet featured several automatic state-qualifying times, including four from Beamer’s Rachel Kim. Kim won the 200-yard individual medley in a state time of 2:14.97 and the 100 back in 1:02.65. She was also a part of a pair of state-qualifying relay teams for the Titans. The Beamer team of Kim, Jenelle Freeborn, Jessica Soria and Eryn Murphy won the 200 medley relay (1:53.88) and Kelly Erickson, Kim, Murphy and Soria won the 200 free relay (1:44.19).
Jefferson also got an individual state-qualifying time from Amber Cratsenberg after she won the 50 free in 25.39 over Murphy, who also had a state time in the event (25.46).
Beamer also got individual event wins from Soria in the 200 free (2:08.18) and 500 free (5:45.75). Jefferson got wins from Cratsenberg in the 100 free (56.13), Savannah Coe in the 100 backstroke (1:13.22) and the 400 relay team of Cratsenberg, Janice Huynh, Michelle Hogan and Coe in the 400 free relay (4:05.89).
Decatur got wins from Briley Boggs in the 100 butterfly in a state-qualifying time of 1:00.04 and Jacqueline Robinson-Hamm in diving (162.00).
Girls soccer
The defending South Puget Sound League South Division champion Todd Beamer Titans got their season going with a 2-0 win over Rogers on Tuesday.
The Titans got goals from sophomore Avery Salisbury and freshman Breanna Straus and Jul Podawittz and Meghan Graf combined on the shutout.
