The Todd Beamer gymnastics team is the best Federal Way has to offer. The Titans dominated the All-City Gymnastics Meet Wednesday night at Federal Way High School.
Beamer finished with 169.350 points, followed by Jefferson (153.5), Federal Way (145.4) and Decatur (140.75).
Sophomore Cassie Peterson won the all-around competition with an impressive four-event total of 35.45. The Titans actually swept the first-four placers in the all-around. Jessica Freeborn finished second (35.15), Leah Freeborn ended up third (33.45) and Laura Schrader was fourth with 33.15 points. Jefferson’s Bri Adams was fifth overall with 32.4 points.
Peterson and Jessica Freeborn each won two individual events Wednesday night. Peterson won the balance beam with a 9.4 and the uneven bars with an 8.2 and Freeborn carded a 9.45 on the floor exercise and tied with Decatur’s Holly Phan with an 8.6 to win the vault.
The All-City Gymnastics Meet was the regular-season finale and now the gymnasts focus on the postseason. The Class 4A sub-district meet will take place Feb. 7 at Kentwood High School.
