The second-ranked Federal Way boys basketball team remained unbeaten and really untested during the early season with a 70-55 win on the road over the Curtis Vikings in University Place.

The Eagles (4-0) jumped all over Curtis, 20-11, after the first quarter and cruised to the victory. Federal Way had four players in double figures and got only two points from leading scorer Brayon Blake because of foul trouble.

Adrian Davis, Rashawn Goosby and Malik Montoya all finished with 14 points each and senior D’Londo Tucker chipped in 11 for the Eagles.

Federal Way also beat Spanaway Lake Friday night, 83-52.

The talent-rich Eagles had five players in double figures, led by the 15 of Blake. Federal Way really took control of the South Puget Sound League South Division game by outscoring the Sentinels, 30-8, during the second quarter.

Federal Way also got 13 points from D’Londo Tucker, 12 from DeeShawn Tucker, 11 from Davis and 10 from Montoya.

Beamer — The Titans (5-0 overall, 3-0 SPSL South) continued their torrid early season with a 66-58 win over Spanaway Lake Tuesday. Bogdon Blivenyuk led Beamer with 19 points and Trey Burch-Manning finished with 17. Juwan Flowers chipped in 12.

The Titans also picked up two other victories over Emerald Ridge Friday, 69-57, and Redmond Saturday in a non-league game, 59-44, at the Les Schwab Preview at Highline Community College.

Against Emerald Ridge, the Titans broke open a close game in the fourth quarter and cruised to the win. Beamer got 17 points from Blivenyuk, 15 from Burch-Manning and 13 from Flowers.

Against Redmond, Blivenyuk finished with a game-high 19 and Flowers chipped in 12. The Titans outscored the Mustangs 22-8 during the third quarter.

Jefferson — The Raiders (3-1 overall, 2-1 SPSL North) suffered their first defeat of the season on the road against Kentwood Friday, 78-68. But TJ bounced back Tuesday with a home win over Auburn Riverside, 85-67.

Against the Ravens, Pekedey Ren led five Raiders in double figures with a career-high 20 points. Deonte Anderson and Josh Duckworth both had 16, Daryon James had 14 and Daniel Park chipped in 10.

Against Kentwood, TJ jumped out to a quick 24-16 lead after the first quarter, but the Conquerors took the lead back at halftime, 40-34.

Jefferson got 23 points from James, 18 from Anderson, 11 from Park and 10 from Duckworth.

Decatur — The Gators (2-2 overall) fell to River Ridge in a non-league game Saturday in Lacey, 63-61. Jason Young led the way for Decatur with 23 points and Glen Jackson and Kevin Locascio both finished with 11 points.

The Gators trailed by one point entering the fourth quarter, but couldn’t get over the hump in the final eight minutes.

Girls basketball

The Todd Beamer Titans remained unbeaten with a pair of blowout wins over Spanaway Lake and Emerald Ridge. The Titans dominated Spanaway Lake, 62-22, Tuesday and beat Emerald Ridge, 63-48, Friday.

Against Spanaway, Beamer jumped out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. Quinessa Caylao-Do and Megan Huff both had 15, Bria Rice finished with 13 and Nia Alexander had 10.

Against Emerald Ridge, the Titans (3-0 SPSL South, 4-0 overall) got a season-high 30 points from the 6-foot-2 Huff. The big night led Beamer to a 35-19 lead at halftime.

The Titans also got nine points from Alexander.

Federal Way — The Eagles (4-0 SPSL South, 6-0 overall) remained unbeaten with a 64-56 win over Curtis Tuesday at home.

Benton finished with 30 points for the third time this season and Kayla Smith chipped in 10 for the Eagles.

Federal Way also got a come-from-behind win over Spanaway Lake Friday night. Benton (21) and Smith (18) combined to score 39 points to lead the way for the Eagles.

Spanaway Lake took a 26-23 at halftime, but Federal Way outscored the Sentinels, 23-9, in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Jefferson — The Raiders (0-3 SPSL North, 0-5 overall) remained winless with a 63-47 loss to Auburn Riverside Tuesday and a 60-36 loss to Kentwood Friday.

Jefferson got 18 points from Jada Piper, but she was the only player to score more than four points against Kentwood.

Decatur — The Gators (0-5 overall) remained winless with a 48-27 loss to Washington in a non-league contest Wednesday. Decatur was led by 19 points from Stephanie Maxwell.
