The Todd Beamer Titans continued the best start in the history of the program Saturday with another blowout victory. The Titans (6-0 overall, 5-0 South Puget Sound League South Division) remained unbeaten with a 67-37 win over Bethel in Federal Way.
Beamer jumped all over Bethel Saturday, outscoring the Braves 16-0 during the first quarter. Freshman Quinessa Caylao-Do continued her impressive first season for the Titans with a career-high 24 points. On the year, Caylao-Do is averaging 14.7 points. Junior Megan Huff finished with 15 points and freshman Nia Alexander chipped in 14.
The Titans will host national power Oregon City High School Thursday night in a non-league contest at Beamer. Oregon City won three consecutive USA Today girls’ national championships from 1995 to 1997, as well 11 Oregon state championships in the last 20 years.
Federal Way — The Eagles (7-1 overall, 5-1 SPSL South) got back in the win column with a 64-37 victory over Graham-Kapowsin Saturday. Raven Benton led four players in double figures with 16 points. Jill Honrade finished with 15, Mariyah Vonsaveng had 14 and Kayla Smith ended up with 11.
Decatur — The Gators (0-6) remained winless with a 43-17 loss to Lakeside Saturday in Seattle. Stephanie Maxwell scored 12 of Decatur’s 17 points.
Jefferson — The Raiders (1-6 overall, 1-4 SPSL North) were downed by top-ranked Mount Rainier Saturday, 63-40. Jada Piper led TJ with 21 points and Reno Whitcomb chipped in 10.
Boys basketball
The Thomas Jefferson Raiders continued their impressive early-season Saturday with another road win. The Raiders downed Mount Rainier in Des Monies, 65-56, to move to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the SPSL North Division.
Daryon James led TJ with 22 points and helped the Raiders outscore Mount Rainier, 20-10, in the fourth quarter to overcome a one-point deficit.
Senior Jerry Duckworth was the only other TJ player in double figures with 12 points. It was Mount Rainier’s first SPSL North Division loss of the season.
The Raiders play their final SPSL North Division game Tuesday against Auburn before the Christmas break. Auburn also has only one SPSL North loss.
Beamer — The Titans dropped their second game in a row Saturday on the road to the Bethel Braves, 78-71. Bethel outscored the Titans (5-2 overall, 3-2 SPSL South) 25-16 in the fourth quarter to get the come-from-behind victory.
Bogdon Bilvenyuk led Beamer, who lost their first game of the season Thursday to Curtis, with 22 points. Juwan Flowers ended up with 14 points and Trey Burch-Manning chipped in 13 for the Titans.
Federal Way — The second-ranked Eagles (6-0 SPSL South) played suffocating defense Saturday and got a 68-24 win over Graham-Kapowsin on the road. Junior DeeShawn Tucker led four Federal Way players in double figures with 19 points. Adrian Davis finished with 14, Brayon Blake had 13 and D’Londo Tucker chipped in 12 for the Eagles.
Federal Way outscored Graham-Kapowsin, 62-20, during the first three quarters Saturday.
