The Federal Way Boys and Girls Club is currently enrolling youth for its 2010 Munchkin, Elementary and Middle School basketball leagues.

Munchkin Basketball is a co-ed league for all youth in first and second grade, Elementary Basketball is for third, fourth and fifth graders and the Middle School league will be separate for sixth graders and a 7th/8th grade combined team. The season runs from Jan. 26 to March 19. Games are played in the surrounding Federal Way area school, as well as the Federal Way Boys and Girls Club.

The program costs $60 or $65 after January 22 (plus $20 Club membership fee if not current).

The club also offers a Kindergarten Basketball Clinic for ages 4 to 6. The fee is $55 and runs Feb. 6 to March 13 on Saturdays from 9 to 10 a.m. at the club. The deadline for early registration is Jan. 22. Late registration will be accepted on a space available basis and $5 extra charge.

Synchronized swimming classes

The Pacific Waves Synchronized Swimming is hosting classes every month at the Federal Way Community Center. The classes are from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday mornings and are open to swimmers ages 8 to 80. But swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool. Pacific Waves will host sessions on Jan. 9 and Feb. 6. The cost is $40 and an annual registration fee to USA Synchro.

Business sponsorships

The Federal Way School District is in the third year of business sponsorship designed to raise revenue for high school athletic and activity programs. Approved institutional advertising is available at Federal Way Memorial Field and/or high school gymnasiums and fields. Signage fees may be dedicated to a specific school or distributed evenly to all high schools.

All business or organizational advertising will be in the form of a vinyl banner authorized by the FWSD. Outside banners will be 4’x 6’ and interior 3’x5’. After an initial fee of $500, there will be a yearly renewal fee of $200. All signs will be made by the FWSD and are subject to Policy 7414 (Business Sponsorships) available on the district Web site or at Memorial Field.
