Girls basketball
The third-ranked Todd Beamer Titans remained unbeaten on the season with a pair of wins last weekend. The Titans beat a solid Mercer Island Saturday night at home, 55-42, and blew out Graham-Kapowsin Friday in South Puget Sound League South Division Friday, 69-7.
The wins moved to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the SPSL South.
Against Mercer Island in the non-league game, the Titans blew the game open by outscoring the Islanders, 21-11, in the third quarter. Beamer led by only four points at halftime.
Nia Alexander led the way with 14 points, Quinessa Caylao-do had 13 and Megan Huff chipped in 12.
Against Graham-Kapowsin, the Titans didn’t allow a point in both the second and fourth quarters. Beamer jumped out to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter and allowed only two more points to Graham-Kapowsin the rest of the game.
Huff led the way with 18 points and Alexander, Giavanni Flowers and Bria Rice all finished with 11 each.
Federal Way — The Eagles split a pair of one-point games over the weekend. Federal Way beat Battle Ground on Saturday and lost to Puyallup Friday.
The Eagles (2-5 overall, 1-4 SPSL South) lost to Puyallup in an SPSL South game at home, 48-47. Zaedrea Robinson led the way for the Eagles with 16 points and Tatiana Large had 10.
Federal Way then beat Battle Ground Saturday on the road in a non-league contest, 56-55. Kayla Smith had an impressive game, finishing with 23 points. Robinson had 15 and Sydney DeWitt added 10 points for the Eagles.
Boys basketball
Beamer — The Titans continued their unbeaten South Puget Sound League South Division season with a blowout win over Graham-Kapowsin Friday night, 87-37. The Titans (6-1 overall, 5-0 SPSL South) outscored the Eagles 25-11 in the first quarter and extended the lead to 45-14 at halftime.
Senior Trey Burch-Manning led the way with 22 points and Bogdon Bliznyuk finished with 19. In total, nine Beamer players scored at least four points. Charles Frazier chipped in 11 points.
The Titans lone loss of the season came in their opening game, a 61-55 defeat by Lincoln.
Federal Way — The Eagles blew away the Puyallup Vikings, 83-46, Friday night on the road. Federal Way (6-1 overall, 5-1 SPSL Southb) dominated the first three quarters against Puyallup, jumping out to a 71-34 lead. Viont’e Daniels led four Eagles in double figures with 27 points. Malik Montoya finished with 20, Adrian Davis had 14 and Anthony Rogers chipped in 12.
Jefferson — The Raiders (2-7 overall, 1-4 SPSL North) lost a one-point halftime lead Friday against Auburn and lost, 75-60. The Trojans outscored TJ, 36-20, in the third and fourth quarters.
The Raiders were led by 15 points from Xavier Scott, 13 from Alex Sommerfield and 12 from Darius Anderson.
