The entire Federal Way Eagles girls wrestling team was nominated and selected as the Federal Way Mirror’s Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 27 to March 3. The Eagles finished second overall as a team with 97 points at the state tournament, missing a first place finish by just eight points. Federal Way had five wrestlers finish inside the top eight in each of their weight classes: Anabella Garcia (eighth), Amanda Henderson (sixth), Anjilia Sumandig (fourth) and Mariah Stewart (second). Senior and Stanford softball commit Tally Thomas won the state championship in the 170-pound weight class. Thomas became the second state champion in Federal Way High School girls wrestling history.
