First base
Richie Apigo, Beamer
The sophomore was solid all season long for the Titans, who finished 6-10 during the regular year. Apigo hit .390 with a team-best 13 RBIs, one triple, two doubles, one home run and nine runs scored.
Second base
Jeff Apigo, Beamer
The junior hit .372 with a team-best 14 runs, 16 hits, six doubles, nine RBIs, and three home runs.
Third base
Brett Fitzgerald, Jefferson
The senior led the Raiders with 16 RBIs during the SPSL North regular season and was a second-team, all-league selection.
Fitzgerald also hit .404 with three home runs, 10 runs scored, four doubles and two stolen bases.
Fitzgerald also finished 3-3 on the mound with a 3.99 earned-run average. He struck out 11 in 26 1/3 innings.
Shortstop
Nick Tanielu, Federal Way
The junior had another monster season for the Eagles.
Tanielu finished second in the SPSL North in hitting with a .548 batting average.
He also led the league in runs scored with 26 in 16 games, walks with 17 and stolen bases with 12. Tanielu also had 12 RBIs, five doubles, one triple, three home runs and struck out only twice during the entire season.
Tanielu also played a solid defensive shortstop for the third-place Eagles and was a first-team, All-SPSL North selection.
Catcher
Brett Evans, Federal Way
The junior had an impressive offensive season for Federal Way. Evans hit .404 during the regular season with 11 runs scored, 14 RBIs, one double and two home runs. Evans also had four stolen bases.
Ofero Taitano, Decatur
The senior led the Gators in most offensive categories during the SPSL season. Taitano hit .349 with 11 RBIs, one home run and seven runs scored. He also had five doubles and struck out only twice.
Outfield
Austin Webber, Federal Way
Webber had a very impressive season for the Federal Way Eagles, who finished second in the SPSL North and third in the state. Webber hit .467 with 19 RBIs, 19 runs, two home runs and two doubles for the Eagles. Webber also belted two home runs during the Eagles’ win over Shorewood in the state third-fourth game at Safeco Field.
Webber stole nine bases in 10 attempts and was a first-team, All-SPSL North selection as an outfielder. Webber also finished 3-0 on the mound with three saves and an earned-run average of 3.27.
Travis Crumb, Beamer
The senior, who is headed to Tacoma Community College next year, led the Titans with a .395 batting average. Crumb, a second-team, All-SPSL South selection, also scored 11 runs, with four RBIs, two doubles and five stolen bases.
Oakley Murphy, Jefferson
The Jefferson junior was a second-team, All-SPSL North selection after hitting .424 with eight runs, seven RBIs and three doubles.
Terin Beck, Federal Way
The senior hit .340 during the SPSL North regular season with nine runs, 10 RBIs, and a team-leading seven doubles. Beck was 4 for 4 in stolen bases. Beck was a second-team, All-SPSL North selection.
Utility
Jeff Brigham, Jefferson
The University of Washington-signee had a solid all-around season for the Raiders. Offensively, Brigham led TJ in hits with 24 and finished with a .436 batting average. He also had 14 RBIs, scored a team-best 14 runs, had five doubles, three home runs and struck out only four times. Brigham played mostly second base.
On the mound, Brigham overcame some injury problems to throw 20 2/3 innings and finished 0-1. He had 23 strikeouts and had an ERA of 1.02.
Designated hitter
Mitch McQueen, Jefferson
The senior hit .391 for the Raiders with 13 runs scored, eight RBIs and one home run. McQueen also had three doubles.
Pitchers
TJ Horsfall, Federal Way
The senior right-hander finished 4-1 during the SPSL North regular season and led the Eagles with 34 2/3 innings pitched. Horsfall struck out 34 and and had a 4.85 earned-run average.
On the season, Horsfall was 7-1, including two wins during the postseason. The senior threw a four-hitter during Federal Way’s 11-3 victory over Shorewood.
Horsfall also hit .262 with five RBIs, 12 runs and a home run. He belted four home runs during the Eagles’ postseason run.
Elliot Morris, Federal Way
The senior was the ace of the staff for the Eagles and finished 7-2 on the season. During the SPSL North regular season, Morris was 3-1 with a 5.65 earned-run average and struck out 34 in 31 innings.
But the postseason is when Morris turned it on. Morris was 3-0 in the playoffs before suffering a tough-luck loss against Kentwood in the state semifinals. Morris threw six-plus innings against the Conks and allowed two earned runs.
Morris also hit .333 with a team-best 20 RBIs and five home runs. He also scored 13 runs, had two doubles and stole three bases.
Zach Jacobs, Decatur
The Gator junior picked up three of Decatur’s wins during the SPSL South season. Jacobs finished 3-2 in 31 1/3 innings pitched and had an impressive earned-run average of 2.23. He struck out 32 and had only 10 walks. He was a second-team, All-SPSL South selection.
Austin Campbell, Jefferson
The TJ senior finished 2-2 with a 3.75 earned-run average in 28 innings. Campbell had 21 strikeouts and allowed only 27 hits.
