Students should protest bullying

Students, now that you have protested gun violence, I challenge you to end all violence in your schools. I challenge you to end bullying by speaking out when you see anyone being mistreated. I challenge you to say no to name calling. It scars the soul.

If you know a bully, find out why they are angry. Do they need a friend, someone to talk to? Do they need to be told no, that their behavior is inappropriate, immature, hurtful. Does your school have an anonymous way of reporting bullying?

If you are being bullied, talk to your parents, teachers, staff or request an adult or student mentor. Do not suffer in silence. Stand up for yourself. No one is more important.

Students, I challenge you to make a difference in your school, to make your school a safe, pleasant place of learning.
