After years of serving his constituents in our community, Mark Miloscia finds himself in the crosshairs of irate progressives, according to last week’s Mirror. Considering the amount of print dedicated to Milosia, including the letters, the Mirror is clearly engaged in an effort to discredit Miloscia and, thus, pave the way for his potential challengers in 2018. The bias was obvious as demonstrated by the exceptional space given to the long rant in Randal Smith’s letter. I’m sure Miloscia would not deny the Mirror’s right under the First Amendment to say what it pleases short of libel, however he deserves the same consideration. It should be obvious to any discerning adult that he is not taking issue with protesting per se but rather, the theme of the protesters which supports abortion. That Miloscia says abortion is unAmerican and unChristian is his right, a right protected by the First Amendment regardless of how many may disagree.
Judging from the thousands of men and women who participated in the March for Life rally in Washington D.C. on Jan. 27, it appears Mr. Miloscia has some fellow American’s in his corner, including the vice president. That’s the other side of the coin, and while Miloscia’s detractors may not like it, First Amendment rights swing both ways.
