Yang-ja Lee Lindgren died Feb. 22. She was 60.
Her Korean parents were living in Manchuria, China when she was born on July 31, 1942. She attended college in Korea. In 1970, she emigrated to America, where her sister lived. She studied at the University of Washington, earning two degrees.
She worked as a social worker and owned a restaurant and a gift shop.
She was a strong supporter of Federal Way Public Academy. In 2002, the school named its community service award after her.
Survivors include her husband, Brian; sons John and Michael; her mother, two sisters and four brothers. The family suggests memorials be made to Marine View Presbyterian Church, 8469 Eastside Drive NE., Tacoma, WA 98422, or the Federal Way Public Academy PTSA, 36001 First Ave. S., Federal Way, WA 98003.
For the latter, gifts should be designated for the Y. Lee Lindgren Community Service Award Scholarship.
