William Alvin Riles Jr. of Federal Way died Oct. 9. He was 72.

He was born Dec. 10, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to the Seattle area from Pennsylvania in 1970.

He was a mechanic with United Airlines before retiring in 1996 after a 38-year career.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dorothy; sons Jim Riles of Puyallup and William Riles of Federal Way; daughters Sandy Kay of Federal Way and Cathy Zenka of Renton; sisters Gail Allender of Bridgeville, Pa. and Louise Hale of Bethel Park, Pa.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Riles Sr. and Julia Ann Riles.

A funeral service was conducted Oct. 14 at Yahn and Son Funeral Home in Auburn.
