Wilbur “Lee” Gant was born March 24, 1961, in Jackson, TN. He worked at Milgard Windows and Doors in Fife, WA, for eight years.
On Oct. 28, 2009, a fired co-worker allegedly shot him five times. This co-worker was told that Lee had given management direct information that led to his dismissal. This was false information and directly contributed to the shooting. Lee was never a supervisor, nor was he at the unemployment hearing as previously reported. At the time of the matter, Lee was a machine operator only, although he had held the lead position prior to and after the dismissal of Kareem Harris, and the lead at the time. After three weeks in Harborview Medical Center ICU, he was not able to return to work, but was recovering from the gunshot wounds. On Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, EMTs rushed him to St. Francis Hospital ICU Unit. After valiant attempts to resuscitate him, he passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Milliken Gant; daughter Leekesha Gant; son, Frank Gant; sister Mae Lewis; brothers Al and Frank Gant; the Milliken, Pivnicka and Swanson families; and stepsons Noah Clark and Tyler Morris. Lee and I would like to express our deep appreciation of the Federal Way Police Department, King County Prosecuting Office, Harborview Medical Center, Virginia Mason Hospital and St. Francis Hospital. Also, to “Sight Life” to whom he donated the gift of sight with his organ donation. Lee would encourage the keeping of the “Blue Porch Light” in honor of our fallen police officers. No memorial will be taking place – his loving, caring and joyful presence remains with so many, and he would be honored by that alone. Any donations should be made to the Federal Way Police Department, and we would encourage everyone to become and organ donor.
