Walter Chenier died March 5. He was 72.

He was born April 17, 1931 in Darrington to Wilfred Chenier and Anna Christensen. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from Western Washington University and received his master’s in math from the University of South Carolina.

He retired after teaching math for 31 years, the majority at Federal Way High School.

Survivors include his sister, Alice Perka of Tacoma, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and brothers Fred and Robert.

Services have been held.
