Vineta Hausauer died July 7, 2021, at her residence in Federal Way, Washington.
Born in 1927, she had devoted parents and 4 much-loved siblings who remained close, lifelong friends. She married George Hausauer in 1949. They ranched in Ellensburg, WA, and also lived in Oregon, Utah, California, and other Washington cities, including Federal Way for many years.
Vineta spent much of her work life in public schools. Her favorite job was being a school librarian, through which she shared her love of books with children. She and George were avid outdoors-people. She loved traveling, baking and flower-arranging. Her lush garden was a joy she delighted in sharing. Family and friends made her happiest of all.
She was funny and fun; had a lively, open mind and a happy disposition; and joined George enthusiastically on their many adventures. People loved talking to her because she truly listened. She treasured life and held onto it with grit, grace, and joy despite hardships in her last years.
She is survived by children Carl (Gloria) and Nancy (Dane); 4 grandchildren and spouses; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law; and many wonderful friends. We will miss her dearly.
An outdoor memorial service will be held at Sunset Park in Auburn (1420 69th St. SE, Auburn) on September 12 at 2 p.m. We ask attendees to follow CDC guidelines. Check Vineta’s Facebook page for any updates.
