Beloved Mother, Grandmother,
Great Grandmother, Great-Great
Grandmother and friend to many
passed away on June 23rd, 2020.
She was born April 27th,
1932 in Salem, Oregon and grew
up in Coos Bay. Val was a strong
women of faith, attended Steel
Lake Presbyterian Church, loved
working in the garden, inspired and
guided countless people through
her life working at Johnny’s Dock, Bates Vocational
and the Goodwill, also over the years she wrote many
memoirs, poems and prayers. After retirement she served
as a deacon, lead bible study, enjoyed dancing with her
Red Hat friends, loved to travel and was a big part of our
family events, she was always encouraging, graceful and
had a beautiful kind soul.
She was preceded in death by her husband George
in 2006, brother Fred Schultz Jr. in 2004 and daughter
Debbie in 1967. She is survived by daughters Crystalee
Sweeting (David) and Rhonda Forsyth (David), sons
Ronald Phillips (Sue) and Edward Phillips (Terri), brother
Irv Schultz (Wendy), 17 grandchildren, many great
grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Her interment into the Tahoma National Cemetery
will be Thursday, July 2nd followed by a reception and
celebration of Life with the immediate family. A memorial
will be planned for Steel Lake Presbyterian (@Calvary
Lutheran Church) when current restrictions are lessened.
