Tim Lorenz died May 9 at his home in Federal Way. He was 59.
He was born to Julius and Margaret Lorenz in October 1943 in Valley City, N.D., where he earned his private pilot license.
He started his career in flying with American Flyers in Admore, Okla., returned to North Dakota as a charter pilot for Twin City Construction in Fargo, N.D., and moved on to Crystal Shamrock Airport in Minneapolis as a flight instructor and flight school manager.
He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in Rapid City, S.D, Denver, Colo., Anchorage, Alaska and Seattle, where he retired in 2001 after 32 years of service.
He enjoyed camping and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; sons Bryon Lorenz of Laramie, Wyo. and Joseph Lorenz of Enumclaw; daughters, Renée Hansaker of Tumwater and Mary Colby of Enumclaw; and five grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will begin at 11 a.m. May 14, followed by a reception at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw. Arrangements are by Week’s Funeral Home of Enumclaw.
