Shirley S. Murray, 81, died Aug. 3 after a prolonged illness.

She was a 50-year resident of the Star Lake community in Kent, a 27-year employee of the Federal Way school district, and for several years a member of the Board of Trustees of Highline Community College.

She is survived by her children, Douglas, Duncan, Sherryl, David and Dennis, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Douglas H. Murray.

At her request, there will be no service.

Since she was an avid reader, the family suggests remembrances may be made to local public libraries.
