Sang Won Liu, 76, died March 13.
She was a 20-year resident of Federal Way until February, when she moved to Seal Beach, Calif.
Born July 9, 1925 in Seoul, Korea, she came to the United States in July 1948 on a scholarship to attend graduate school at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. She graduated with a masters in foods and nutrition in 1950. She later did doctoral work at Kansas State University.
Her husband, Louis Liu, also attended Oregon State, where they met in in 1949. He died June 20, 2001.
She is survived by her children, David Liu of Chicago, Gloria Liu, Daniel Liu and Patty McKenna, all of Los Angeles; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 23 at Chinese Presbyterian Church of Orange County in Westminister, Calif. 92683.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Steel Lake Presbyterian Church, 1829 S. 308th St., Federal Way, Wash. 98003.
