Patrick Terrence Hoban died of cancer Oct. 5. He was 62.
Born Oct. 3, 1940, in Tacoma, he was a graduate of Bellarmine Preparatory and Central Washington State College (now university), earned a master of education from Portland University and a doctorate from Washington State University.
He spent 32 years in public education, retiring in 1995 as superintendent of schools of Fife. He was president-elect of the National State School Retirees Executives Association and executive director of the 16,000-member Washington State School Retirees Association.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judith; children Colleen Garrison of Vancouver, Patrick J. Hoban of Pennsylvania, and Anne Hoban of Puyallup; his mother, Patricia Hoban of Tacoma; two brothers and two sisters; and four grandchildren.
Mass was celebrated Oct. 11 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Fife.
