July 28, 1937 – December 20, 2023
Maralyn Miller was born the evening of July 28, 1937 in Channing, Texas, a very small town near Amarillo, to Hugh and Louise Edwards. The Doctor filled out the birth certificate the following morning and dated it July 29. Maralyn was then able to celebrate two birthdays, the real one and the legal one.
She had one older sister, Barbara, who lives in Comfort, Texas. Maralyn grew up in Sioux City, Iowa where she graduated from East High School in 1955. The family then moved to Knoxville, TN where she attended the University of Tennessee. She married Bill Miller there October 12, 1957. Their honeymoon was the trip from Knoxville to Federal Way, WA where they have since lived.
They had two children, Brian born in 1959 and Katie born in 1963. They have been blessed with four grandsons and now a great granddaughter and a great grandson.
Maralyn worked at Boeing for a few years, then became a full time Mother when the kids were born. Later she graduated from Highline College with straight A’s and started work as a travel agent. That gave her the opportunity to organize group cruises. Over the course of 24 cruises Bill and Maralyn visited 73 countries around the world.
In her High School years Maralyn was a member of Rainbow for Girls. Later she became a charter life member of Pyramid Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Federal Way. Over the years she filled all of the appointed offices, but was never interested in going through the elective line.
She was raised in the Presbyterian Church, but practiced a personal relationship with God. Maralyn died peacefully December 20, 2023
