Leona J. Clemens Ramsay died Jan. 11 in Federal Way, her home of nearly 40 years. She was 79.
She was born July 11, 1923 in North Dakota and married James Ramsay on Nov. 20, 1948 in Tacoma.
She was a paraeducator in the Federal Way school district from 1965 to 1975, working recess duty at Brigadoon Elementary School.
She was active at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school.
Survivors include her husband; children James Ramsay Jr. of Lake Sammamish, David Ramsay and Craig Ramsay, both of Federal Way, Dana Ramsay of Puyallup, Tim Ramsay of Honolulu, Hawaii, Linda Peterson of Renton and Christine Ramsay of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; brothers Carl Clemens and Arnold Clemens, both of Spokane, and Hank Clemens of Texas; sisters, Alma Whitaker of Portland, Ore., Esther Sharp of Vancouver, Wash., and Eleanor Peddicord of Kennewick; and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life was held Jan. 15 at St. Luke’s.
