Kenneth John Thorstad died Feb. 12. He was 86.
He was born to Anton and Sophia Thorstad on June 24, 1917 in Duluth, Minn., where he grew up and graduated from high school.
He trained at the Glass Institute in Steubenville, Ohio and blew neon glass for two years.
He served with the Army Air Corps in World War II and the Korean War as a panel engineer on the B-29 Super Fortress and as a mechanic on P-40s.
He married Alice Christensen Sept. 29, 1953. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last fall.
His family settled in Federal Way. He worked for Boeing as a quality-control inspector and retired in 1975.
He was active with St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Federal Way, was an avid fisherman and, with his wife, met regularly with a group of seniors who walk at SeaTac Mall in the mornings.
Survivors include his wife; daughters Linda Cameron of Tacoma and Nancy Cummings of Winchester, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David.
Visitation was Feb. 17 at Yahn and Son Funeral Home. in Auburn. Funeral services were Feb. 18 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Burial was at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
