Karen A. Poinier, 55, of Des Moines, WA passed away on October 9, 2013. She was born in Balboa, California on June 28, 1958. Karen graduated from West Seattle High School in 1976. She attended the University of Washington and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Society and Justice in 1981. Then she continued her education at Edmonds Community College and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Arts with a Major in Paralegal Studies in 1983.

Karen worked as a paralegal for over 25 years with a special interest in personal injury and medical malpractice. Her most recent position was with Gehrke, Wegener and Doull in Des Moines.

Gardening was her passion and she enjoyed spending time nurturing flowers and vegetables. Animals were also an interest of hers, especially dogs. Karen recently became a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Karen is survived by her brothers, David (Sally) Poinier and Michael (Bonnie) Frederick. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Florence Poinier; her aunt, Anne Raymond and her brother, Thomas Poinier, Jr.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
