Joseph Marvin Gunderson of Federal Way died March 26 at Hallmark Manor.
He was 74.
He was born Sept. 9, 1928 in Portland, Ore., and married LaVerne Sassetti in 1953 in Kent.
He retired in 1994 from the Boeing Space Center in Kent. His professional career highlights included helping solve the Apollo 13 incident while working on the Apollo space programs from 1967 to 1988 at Boeing NASA in Houston, Texas.
He received degrees at the University of Washington and M.S. Case Institute of Technology of Cleveland Ohio.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, LaVerne; children Joe Gunderson and Pamela Newby, both of Federal Way, Janice Elzey of Pasadena, Texas and Jill Gunderson of Lake Tapps; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Private family services were held.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Covington Community Church Memorial in Covington.
