John Sawyer

John Thomas Sawyer passed away peacefully on July 16th 2012. He was born on Sept. 10th, 1926 in Everett, WA to John and Ethel Sawyer. John is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, and his children Susan (Dale) Eldredge and Doug (Vanessa) Sawyer. He was preceded in his death by his son Tom. John was a proud grandfather of five, and great grandfather of two. He spent his youth in Everett, where he graduated from high school in 1944. He joined the US Army and served on WWII overseas tours in the Philippines and Japan. John enrolled in the UW Forestry Department in 1946 and was an active member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. In addition to his personal lumber, construction and real estate businesses, he proudly served in the public realm as Commissioner for the Federal Way Water and Sewer District. John enjoyed travelling, cooking and business. He will be remembered, by everyone who knew him, for his generosity, commitment to family and his congenial nature. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 23rd at 10am at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 2415 South 320 St., Federal Way, WA 98003.
