Janet Rae Williams Mitchell, 81, of Federal Way, Washington, peacefully passed away at her home on May 6, 2022 from natural age-related causes.
Janet was born on February 10, 1941 to Loris Drayton Williams and Martha Jane Williams in Los Angeles, California. After Janet Rae graduated from Federal Way High School in 1959, she married Peter Bill Bundy on April 2, 1960. They made their home in McMicken Heights, Seattle. Peter and Janet are the parents of daughter Tracie Lea (June 29, 1962) and son David Lawrence (June 9, 1964.)
After her husband Peter died unexpectedly from surgical complications at the young age of 26, Janet moved with her children to south Federal Way; there, she became reacquaint- ed with a young man, who years earlier, had dated her in high school—Fay Gordon Mitchell. On December 23, 1966, Fay and Janet were married and moved into a new house at 28819 19th Avenue South in Federal Way. Together they loved and lost their first infant child, Wesley Gordon Mitchell in June of 1967. They were soon blessed with their daughter Cindy Marie on September 5, 1969. Their home was the center of so many happy memories for Fay, Janet, Tracie, David and Cindy.
Janet Rae (“Nanny”) spent her entire life developing rela- tionships—her relationships with God, family and friends. For those of us who are fortunate to know her, then you have a relationship with her. Her relationship with God was very important to her and gave her the strength and power to have love and compassion for us all. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she spent decades serving and ministering to others including two years as a missionary with Papa Fay in the South London England Mission as well as numerous years serving in the Seattle Temple with her sister Carol and brother-in-law Louis Spader.
She made her homes in Washington, Oklahoma, Utah and California. Her adventures throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe brought her much happiness and fulfillment but it was the time she set aside for the one — for each one of her family, for each one of her friends, for each one of her neighbors, for that one stranger, that brought her the most joy in life. The impact of her devotion to God, country, family, and friends are recorded in the anals of heaven and generations to come will know of her.
Janet Rae is survived by her spouse Fay Gordon Mitchell, her sister Carol Mae Spader-Kitchen, daughters Tracie Sneed (Randolph Sneed) of Utah, Cindy Lopez (Shao Lopez) of Cal- ifornia, son David Mitchell of Washington, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one cat named “Sweetie.”
Services will be held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint Ward Chapel at 841 South 308th Street, Federal Way, Washington on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
