On April 22, 2023, we said a sad farewell to Jackie (Loher) Jensen, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, auntie and friend to everyone she met. Jackie was born in Spokane, but grew up with her parents, twin sister and older brother in Federal Way at the Steel Lake Motel which the family owned and ran. She married her high school sweetheart Tom and they raised two children, Russ and Jill in Tacoma.
Jackie was a successful sales merchandiser; her favorite product was greeting cards. She also was very involved in the fundraising for St Theresa’s catholic church, and always active in the PTA, even earning a Golden Acorn award for her volunteerism. After caring for her aging parents, she and Tom lived out a dream of being in the woods on a lake Yelm. After retirement she became a world traveler, be it with her husband Tom, or her sister or any friend who was up for an adventure.
Tom and Jackie were also snowbirds and traveled to Yuma for the winter months. They moved into Auburn to be closer to family, and finally to Ferndale just this past fall.
Jackie said, without a second of hesitation, her greatest accomplishment in life was her family.
She will be missed by all who experienced her infectious smile, but most deeply by her husband of 63 years, her twin sister and brother, her son and daughter and their spouses, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be held at St Andrew’s Catholic Church in Sumner, Washington at 11:00am on May 12th, Informal gathering at noon.
