Herbert David Kaplan, aka H David Kaplan of Federal Way, WA, passed away on October 10, at the age of 87. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Harry and Betty Kaplan, and was predeceased by his sister, Mildred Klein. David, as he was known to all, graduated from University of Michigan in 1956, with a BA in Journalism.

His career included writing, editing and production management in the retail and travel industries, as well as the performing arts; taking him from New York to Houston and, ultimately, to Federal Way, where he served on numerous local and civic committees. Together with his late partner of 47 years, Dr. Stanley M. Pier, he fostered his love of the arts, attending as well as generously supporting the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Opera, the University of Washington Musical Theater Program and the University of Michigan Music School. David is survived by his niece and her husband, 2 nephews and 2 great-grand nieces. Internment is in Long Island, NY.
