Former Federal Way resident Elinor Claire (McCaskill) Harris died Dec. 7 at Linden Grove Nursing Home in Puyallup, where she had lived since July 2002.
She was 87.
She was born Sept. 9, 1915, in Houston, Miss., attended Drury College, and in 1937 married Gerson Harris, then of Marquette, Mich. They lived in California, Wisconsin, and Paris, France with their children during World War II before settling in Harker Heights, Texas.
She was a member of the Harker Heights United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and a local garden club.
Survivors include grandchildren Paul Reising of Federal Way, Ann Ross of Buckley and Melissa Schauers of Enumclaw.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Claire Reising, in 1978; a son, David Harris in 1999; and her husband, who was a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel.
Inurnment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are by Yahn and Son Funeral Home in Auburn.
