Donald R. Heritage died June 16 of cancer.
Born Dec. 14, 1950 in Aberdeen, he graduated from Auburn High School and served two years in the U.S. Army. He worked at Lakehaven Utility District for 27 years and was a member of West Hill/Cornerstone Baptist churches for 33 years where he worked with youth and outreach. He traveled to Romania several times to help disadvantaged orphans and street children in Bucharest. A sports enthusiast, he coached his children’s sports teams while playing in adult softball and basketball leagues.
He is survived by his children, Mike and Niccole Heritage of Federal Way; friend and ex-wife, Joy Heritage Thayer; brothers, James Heritage of Anchorage and Richard Heritage of Federal Way; and sister, Betty Clifton of Shelton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. June 22 at Cornerstone Community Baptist Church, 25030 Military Road S., Kent. Memorials may be made in Don’s name to the Youth Summer Camp Scholarship Fund at Cornerstone Church (839-9380).
