Bryon W. Gilbert of Wenatchee, a former Federal Way resident, died Sept. 11. He was 46.
He was born Feb. 19, 1959, and graduated from Decatur High School in Federal Way. He played basketball at Big Bend Community College and Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore.
He was a basketball coach at Big Bend, where he won a NWAACC championship in 1982. He also coached basketball in Guam and Denver, Colo., and since 1999 was a volunteer assistant coach for Wenatchee Valley College.
He was an assistant chief pilot for Continental Micronesia in Guam and a pilot for Continental Airlines, based out of Denver, Hawaii and Newark, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Malou of Wenatchee; a daughter, Dominque; a son, Grant; and brothers Ronald Gilbert of Graham and Donald Gilbert of Tacoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Gloria Gilbert.
A memorial service was held Sept. 18 in Wenatchee.
