Beverly June Paulson

Beverly June Paulson passed on peacefully in her home with her family at her side on Sunday evening July 10, 2016.

Beverly was born to George and Elsie Nunn December 28, 1933 in Lockport, New York. Niagara Falls and the Erie Canal were significant to her in her early years. Her family moved to Oregon in 1947 where she graduated from Salem High School in 1951. Later she met her life partner of 59 years, Bill Paulson. Both attended Oregon Technical Institute. Bev had several careers including: Secretary for the State of Oregon, Production Illustrator at The Boeing Company, Caregiver for Angie and Aaron, Homemaker, and Custom Picture Framer at Kent Valley Frame Shop. Later in life she fulfilled her passion of becoming a recognized water color artist.

In 1960, Bev and Bill moved from Oregon and settled in Washington living in the communities of Rainier Beach, Kent, Camano Island and Auburn. Together they raised two children: son Bryan Paulson (Karen Paulson), daughter Krista Paulson (Mike Curl). Bev was extremely proud of her seven grandchildren: Kendra, Kaelin, Brooke, Hayden, Haley, Sophie and Elizabeth. Bev’s love for her family was most important in her life.

Beverly painted using acrylics and watercolor. Her friends coined her as a “Story Painter”. Her painting inspirations came from her grandchildren, scenes from the Northwest, furry or feathered friends, and the wisdom of the aging. Other life-long passions included singing in the church choirs, Christmas trees, square dancing, camping, sewing, creating puppets and costumes, baking fresh pies and cookies, crows, her cabin on the Hood Canal, her loving cats, her abundant friendships, and the camaraderie of the Camano Island art community. Her most recent friends say that they feel like they’ve known Beverly forever!

In lieu of flowers, Beverly requested donations be made to the Stanwood or Federal Way United Methodist Churches, or to Camano Island Animal Shelter Association.
