Alyce Lanphere Kennard died March 19 in Tacoma. She was 87.
She was born Nov. 10, 1917 in Waterville to Harold and Jessie Lanphere. She was a resident at Village Green Retirement Campus in Federal Way for the past seven years.
She graduated from high school in Wenatchee, where she also attended business college. After marrying Marvin Kennard in 1940, she lived most of her adult life in the Puget Sound area. From 1950 to 1975, she was a partner with her husband and the bookkeeper for Rainier Pallet and Lumber Co. After retiring, they spent winters in Desert Hot Springs, Calif.
Survivors include daughters, Karen Thaanum of Federal Way, Sherry Sims of Bellevue and Marcia Carr of Tacoma; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years and a son, Jeff.
A memorial service will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue. The family suggests that remembrances be made to American Cancer Society (ovarian), 728 134th St. SW, Suite 101, Everett, WA 98204.
