Walmart employee suspected of stealing $16K | Federal Way Police Blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log Feb. 8-14.

Feb. 8

Grocery store burglarized: At about 4:50 a.m. near the 2300 block of SW 336th Street, a Mexican grocery store was burglarized by three men. No money was inside the store, due to other recent crimes. The subjects fled the building with little to no merchandise.

On Feb. 8, there were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Feb. 9

Walmart employee steals thousands: At about noon near the 34500 block of 16th Avenue South, police received a report that over the last several months, an employee of the Walmart store stole approximately $16,000 by a combination of embezzlement and theft.

On Feb. 9, there were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Feb. 10

Armed robbery at business: At about 10:35 p.m. near the 800 block of SW 312th Street, officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at the business. All leads were exhausted during the investigation.

On Feb. 10, there were at least 7 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Feb. 11

Stolen vehicle located: At about 2:35 a.m. near the 100 block of SW Campus Drive, officers located a damaged vehicle at the entrance to a property and the vehicle was running with the doors open. Police contacted the registered owner, who informed the police it was a stolen vehicle but had not yet been reported. This incident is recorded in the daily auto theft count.

On Feb. 11, there were at least 8 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Feb. 12

Suspects shoot water pellets: At about 6:30 p.m. near the 1000 block of South 320th Street, three male suspects entered the location wearing masks. One male shot water pellets with a BB gun into the ceiling and a glass panel by the register. The male suspects did not say anything and immediately ran away after shooting the pellets. No customers or employees were injured and there was no damage.

Neighbor stops car break-in: At about midnight near the 2600 block of South 272nd Street, a person reported that a neighbor interrupted a vehicle break-in. Two unidentified suspects wearing hoods broke the rear passenger window of the person’s vehicle and gained entry. The suspects fled on foot after they were interrupted by the neighbor. The person said nothing was stolen and there was no additional vehicle damage.

On Feb. 12, there were at least 5 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Feb. 13

Ex-boyfriend shows up with gun: At about 3:23 a.m. near the 31800 block of 3rd Place SW, an ex-boyfriend began texting the victim threats. The victim became fearful and a short time later, the ex-boyfriend showed up at the victim’s apartment with a gun in hand, pounding on the door. Officers arrived and located the ex’s vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle and detained the ex-boyfriend. The ex-boyfriend has a gun magazine in his fanny pack. He was later booked into jail.

Man asleep in stolen vehicle: At about 11:28 a.m. near the 34500 block of 16th Avenue South, a man was found asleep in the driver’s seat of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed stolen and the man was arrested.

On Feb. 13, there were at least 2 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.

Feb. 14

Woman banging on doors: At about 12:34 a.m. near the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, officers responded to reports of a woman banging on apartment doors at a complex. Officers recognized the woman and discovered she had outstanding warrants. She was booked into jail without issue.

Pepper spray assault: At about 4:30 p.m. near the 31400 block of Pacific Highway South, a person reported that a suspect known to him had sprayed him with pepper spray. The suspect was booked into jail for assault.

On Feb. 14, there were at least 6 reports of vehicle theft or attempted vehicle theft.
