Help make Federal Way an even better place to live by beautifying city parks from 9 a.m to noon Saturday, April 20, during the city’s annual Park Appreciation Day.

Bring rakes, shovels, loppers, clippers, gloves and friends. This is a family event with fun work for all ages. Individuals as well as groups of all sizes are welcome. Come to Celebration Park, Steel Lake Park, Sacajawea Park, Lakota Park or Olympic View Park.

Anyone is welcome to volunteer for Park Appreciation Day. Volunteers will hand out fliers in neighborhoods surrounding the parks to notify residents of the project.

“A lot of it is wanting to make Federal Way the best possible place to live,” said Jack Walsh, who for the past eight years has helped organize hundreds of volunteers from Federal Way’s Mormon church congregations. “If the parks are kept in good repair and looking nice, that’s good for quality of life.”
