Valhalla Elementary School will not start the first day of school with the rest of the district.
The school’s start date has been pushed back until Sept. 8.
Kindergartners will start even later, on Sept. 9.
The parent meet and greet event will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
The move was decided on Wednesday morning and was caused, in part, by a delay in furniture shipment for the new school. The furniture has since arrived, but teachers still need time to set up their classrooms, and furniture is still being assembled.
Full Day Kindergarten Orientation has also been rescheduled. It will now be held on Sept. 8. There is a morning session from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., a Spanish session from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and an afternoon session from 3 to 4 p.m.
Half Day Kindergarten Orientation will still be held as previously scheduled on Sept. 3-4.
