King County Housing Authority (KCHA) is accepting applications for the Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher) Waitlist Lottery. Section 8 vouchers help low-income individuals and families afford rental housing in the private market. Those with the vouchers pay between 28 to 40 percent of their household income for rent and utilities.
All elligible households that apply between 7 a.m. on Feb. 14 and 4 p.m. Feb. 25 will be placed in the lottery. The KCHA then randomly selects 2,500 applicants to be placed on its waitlist. By March 31, those chosen will receive an email, text or letter notifying them of the selection. Updates will also be available at kcha.org.
The application will be available at kcha.org/lottery when it opens, and is always free.
