The Federal Way Police Department assisted in the June 4 arrest of two males with suspected involvement in a murder.
At about 7:17 a.m. June 4, Federal Way police and Valley SWAT assisted the Puyallup Police Department in the warrant arrest of one juvenile male and one adult male. The arrest occurred at a residence in the 3100 block of SW 339th St.
These two males were connected to the murder of a woman named Gianna Stone in Puyallup on Feb. 25, 2024, according to documents. The adult was booked into Pierce County jail on suspicion of murder in the second degree, and the juvenile was booked into Remann Hall Pierce County Juvenile Detention Center. According to the departments, the two suspects are members of the Hoover gang and have been seen on Instagram posting photos with firearms.
According to police, at about 8:51 p.m. Feb. 25, a Puyallup police officer heard gunshots in the 1500 block of 10th Avenue NW in Puyallup. The responding officer found shell casings, but no victims or suspects.
The shell casings were linked to a crime when, at about 9:04 p.m., a 22-year-old woman from Kingston, Washington, who was identified as Stone, arrived at the emergency department of St Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma with a gunshot wound to the head and ultimately died at the hospital. Stone was a passenger in a vehicle when the suspects attempted a carjacking, which resulted in the woman being shot in the head, according to police documents. The Puyallip police report that the murder was first thought to be between people who knew each other, but after further investigation, it was found to be a random crime resulting from the attempted carjacking in Puyallup.
At the arrest, a Federal Way police officer arrived with Valley SWAT on the scene. Eventually, the adult and juvenile males who were the warrant subjects emerged from the residence and complied with the officers’ commands, leading to their arrest.
