Two holiday charity successes in Federal Way

• Between Dec. 18 and Dec. 20, the Federal Way PTSA clothing bank was able to help over 100 families and distribute 600 coats and sweaters to kids in the area. Volunteers from the Lakota PTA, Thomas Jefferson Key club all helped hand out and collect coats.

• Christmas House at Steel Lake Presbyterian Church served 829 families Dec. 21-23. This was the biggest year for the Christmas House, said volunteer Betty Long: 4,735 people benefitted from the effort, with 115 bikes given away through the Bikes for Kids program. “That’s a lot of happy kids,” said Long, who has done this more than 20 years. “We tried to give everybody a pair of socks too.”
