From staff reports:
The second annual Thomas Jefferson Alumni Showcase will be held 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Federal Way United Methodist Church, 29645 51st Ave. S.
This showcase will feature alumni Hannah Smith, Haley Meier and many more who are known in regional community theaters; Kathleen Brown, recognized by the 5th Avenue for both her performance and choreography skills; and current TJHS students, including Brianne Wyle (recent recipient of a scholarship to the prestigious Ithaca College and seen as Martha in Balagan Theatre’s production of “Spring Awakening”) and Michal Krenning (seen as Radames in this year’s “Aida,” and nominated as Best Male Actor by the 5th Avenue for his performance).
Thomas Jefferson High School’s musical theater program finished its spring season on a stunning note.
Their original rendition of Elton John’s timeless “Aida” riveted the audience to their seats. This thrilling TJHS performance was directed, once again, by TJHS’s Laird Thornton, a singer, actor, and performer in his own right. “T,” as his students and community fondly call him, received 5th Avenue’s Best Director award last year for TJHS’s “Urinetown.”
The June 30 showcase will also feature “T” himself, as well as musical theater showtunes from “Rent,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Into the Woods” and more. A donation of $10 is suggested to support TJHS’s musical theater program.
Efforts are under way to purchase new essentials for The TJHS Little Theater including a new grand curtain, back stage curtains, and a new light board.
