Thomas Jefferson students in Federal Way adopt families in need

For the past two months, students at Thomas Jefferson High School gathered items in their advisory classes to provide gifts for low-income families to make sure that they are able to enjoy the holiday season.

For the past two months, students at Thomas Jefferson High School gathered items in their advisory classes to provide gifts for low-income families to make sure that they are able to enjoy the holiday season.

Each advisory was assigned a family to support and was given a “wish and need list” that was the family provided. Items on the wish list included winter necessities, such as gloves and warm jackets, as well as fun items such as toys and board games.

Advisory classes came through to help out young students in need. More than 600 presents were collected and donated on behalf of the Thomas Jefferson High School. Students volunteered to wrap all of the presents on Dec. 14 and get them set for pick-up by the families.

This effort is part of the Spirit of Giving program that the Raiders are embracing once again this year.

In addition to giving these gifts to families within the community, the student body also granted wishes that various students asked for. The entire process is in attempt to send students off over break excited for the holiday season and happy to be a Raider.
