Aug. 21

There were four vehicle thefts, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Stolen ATM: At about 4:20 a.m. in the 31000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., officers responded to a theft of an ATM at BECU. Upon arrival, a stolen forklift was located, and it was used by the suspect in the commission of the crime. The suspects fled before police arrival.

Stealing and eating: At about 6:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to Walmart for a male who was seen opening food items and eating them as he exited. The male did not attempt to pay for the item and was detained. He was identified and booked for theft.

Lost ankle monitor: At about noon in the 1200 block of SW 333rd Street, someone reported finding an ankle monitor on a nearby trail. The officer collected the ankle monitor and contacted the manufacturer. They advised that the monitor belonged to Pierce County Juvenile Probation. It was returned to Remann Hall in Tacoma.

Juvenile runway: At about 3:15 p.m. in the 27000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., counselors from a DSHS facility in Lakewood took their juvenile residents to the zoo in Seattle for an outing. While stopping in Federal Way to use a restroom, unbeknownst to counselors, one of the residents used to live nearby and ran away when they stopped at the store. The resident had not been located when this report was filed.

Jumping on the hood: At about 6:15 p.m., in the 2200 block of S. Star Lake Rd., someone reported that a white male was jumping on the hood and breaking the windshield of the listed vehicle and not letting the female inside leave. The male then got off of the car, the female got out, and then they walked away together. Officers were unable to locate the registered owner of the vehicle.

Aug. 22

There were two vehicle thefts, and three vehicles were recovered on this day.

Man holding gun: At about 10:45 a.m. in the 1200 block of S. 336th St., officers responded to a male lying in the stairwell holding a gun who appeared to be sleeping.

Man spits in officer’s face: At about 10:40 a.m., an officer observed a male urinating in the roadway. Officers arrested the male and placed him in handcuffs. Once in handcuffs, the male spit into the officer’s face and eye. The male was transported and booked for felony assault on an officer.

Aug. 23

There were three vehicle thefts, and three vehicles were recovered on this day.

Merchandise stolen: At about 8 a.m. in the 33000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., officers were dispatched to a burglary at a business, and it was discovered that $7,500 of merchandise was stolen. The subject remains unidentified.

Aug. 24

There were four vehicle thefts, and one vehicle was recovered on this day.

Attempted child kidnapping: At about 10:30 a.m. in the 35000 block of Enchanted Pkwy. S., officers responded to a child abduction in progress. Probable cause was established for attempted kidnapping second-degree, and the male suspect was taken into custody without issue.

Gun pulled at Harbor Freight: At about 6:10 p.m., a suspect was reported as drawing a gun at Harbor Freight Tools after security stopped his attempt to steal merchandise. The suspect was arrested and found to be a juvenile, and King County Juvenile Detention refused to allow him to be booked. The suspect was then released to CPS.

Aug. 25

There was one vehicle theft, and zero vehicles were recovered on this day.

Shooting: At about 8:20 p.m. on SW 344th Place and 15th Ave. SW, officers were dispatched to a shooting with no injuries located. The victim had driven home where officers contacted him. Officers located three bullet defects on the vehicle and established probable cause for assault. Officers were also able to locate five 9 mm shell casings, which were booked into evidence.

Aug. 26

There were four vehicle thefts, and four vehicles were recovered on this day.

Facing the wrong way: At about 2:14 a.m. in the 33000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., the driver of a black Honda Civic passed out behind the wheel and stopped facing the wrong way on Pacific Hwy. S. After investigation, the driver was arrested for DUI and booked into SCORE jail.

Threat with a dog: At about 12:50 p.m. in the 1900 block of S. 314th St., officers responded to a male threatening to unleash his dog at people. Probable cause was established for assault 4. The male was cited and released.

Robbery with a firearm: At about 9:40 p.m. in the 25000 block of 74th Ave. S., officers assisted the Kent Police Department with a robbery.

Aug. 27

There were four vehicle thefts, and four vehicles were recovered on this day.

Masked criminal: At about 2:10 a.m. in the 32000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., someone reported that she was assaulted by a white male with a ski mask. She also advised that he sprayed her in the face with a fire extinguisher.

Caught by the owner: At about 4:30 a.m. in the 33000 block of Pacific Hwy. S., four suspects gained entry into a business and attempted to steal items, but nothing was taken after the suspects fled on foot when the owner spotted them.

Homeland Security: At about 7:15 a.m. in the 31000 block of Gateway Center Blvd., officers responded to a call about a Homeland Security vehicle being broken into. Equipment was taken such as clothing and a kevlar helmet.
